Is your search engine working for you?
A tool is only as good as how well it is made. Every web designer has to keep search engine optimization in mind, otherwise their product is useless to their clients. The googleguy site that compares the results of Google and Yahoo shows side by side the search results in the respective engines. I quickly ran two searches on sites I created, but with highly unique terms and with the robots file properly configured on the server. The search terms play prominent roles on both pages.
On the first search, Yahoo listed the page in the number 1 spot - Google returned a collateral page that linked to the site in the number 6 spot but did not show the actual page.
On the second search, Yahoo listed the page in the number 1 spot - Google? I gave up looking after 300 entries. The client's customers wouldn't have gotten that far.
This wasn't always the case... Google has made some damn fine 'improvements' to their algorithm.
