fear and loathing

I felt safer ducking scuds in Al Jubail than I do here in the States under a vague Code Yellow / Orange / Red. I was willing to stand by George Bush Sr. when the duty called, but he didn't deliberately try to instill fear in me like his son has. I need to find the quote that went something along the lines of:

The idea of America was once one of hope, regardless of where in the world you were. Now it stands for fear. George W. Bush instilled that fear.

I'm sure it wasn't by accident either. I hope that fear will pass for The U.S. and for the world on November 2nd.
