Firmware Upgrade Death took my iAudio U2 this morning

[mp3 players]

Can I get a moment of silence, please? My Cowon iAudio U2 mp3 player died. Not a peaceful death from a long life of use and providing pleasure. Instead it fell victim to Firmware Upgade Death.

I followed the crazy, intricate directions to the letter, and yet it still went CRUNCH. Actually, it's a flash player, so it didn't make any noise, but still... I needed it for this afternoon's Darfur Rally on the Mall. So this afternoons excitement will not be brought to you by 'iAudio! Makers of fine media players!' or whatever their tagline is.

Now, you could be thinking "he did something wrong". Maybe, but I'm not the only one, and it's not just the U2 model either.

Some say their U2s have come back to life on their own. That's great, but I'm not sure I want a zombie-fied mp3 player hanging around my neck.

As a Veteran, I wanted to thank the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan

[my store]

I served in the first Gulf War, so I earned the Southwest Asia Service Medal and the ribbon that goes along with it. The troops who have served, and are serving, in Afghanistan and Iraq have earned their medals as well - the Afghanistan Campaign Medal and / or the Iraq Campaign Medal. I thought it would be nice to say thanks on a more personal level than a yellow ribbon. It says simply: From One Veteran to Another - Thank You for Serving" with the ribbons from the respective campaigns displayed.A SW Asia Veteran Says Thanks
If you are a Vietnam Veteran, there is a version for you, too.A Vietnam Veteran Says Thanks
And if you were wounded in Vietnam...A Wounded Vietnam Veteran Says Thanks
For the Korean War vets...A Korean War Veteran Says Thanks
As well as a Kosovo Campaign version...A Kosovo Veteran Says Thanks
The last one is for those who left a small part of themselves behind on the battlefield, and earned a Purple Heart.A Purple Heart Veteran Says Thanks
For those who served in those Campaigns other than Afghanistan and Iraq, let me say here: Thank You for Serving as well.

MaryScott O'connor on Faux News

[political]
MaryScott O'Connor was just on The Big Story With John Gibson opposite Bob Beckel. Gibson was hoping to pit Democrat against extreme Democrat, except what he got was two professionals agreeing that the impeachment would be a great thing for this nation. I'll post a link to the video when I get it.

Say Thanks to Harry Taylor

[political]
If you haven't heard of Harry Taylor yet, you will soon. In this era of controlled 'town meeting' propaganda gatherings put on by the White House for President Bush, one man had the courage to stand up and tell Bush that he was "ashamed" of what our leaders in DC have done. One man. That's all it takes to get the ball rolling. If you want to say Thank You to Mr. Taylor, head over to the site set up to do just that.
